We have all heard of “Detoxing”, you know the lemon and Cheyenne pepper water one, the all liquid diet one, etc. Do they really have to be that extreme to get the health benefits we want?
No, they don’t. Actually, an effective Detox is something that makes sustainable changes in our diet and lifestyle that supports the body to work more effectively for life.
Moment of transparency
Let me take a moment real quick to be transparent with you, Dr. Carmen Jones and I have developed a 30 Day Detox Reset Program, so of course, I am going to mention it. In our opinion, it is the safest and most holistic detox program out there. There are also affiliate links in this post because as a buyer I appreciate it when people link to things they recommend so I don’t have to go hunt for them. The intention of my post is not to sell you our detox program if you want to buy it Awesome, but the intention of this post is truly just educational. I hate when I google a topic to learn something and the blogger/Vlogger spends 1/2 the time trying to sell me something when I only wanted to know how to peel a mango. Just wanted to be transparent with my friends. Back to what you came for.
Reason #1 How does detoxing help me feel better?
How is fatigue and detoxing connected? When our bodies are not able to efficiently rid itself of toxins a sorta backup begins. How does our body expel toxins that are ingested, inhaled, or absorbed? It does so through sweating, daily bowel movements, and deep breathing. The liver is the Boss when it comes to toxins and filtration. It metabolizes a lot of the toxins that pass through us.
When we are not moving a lot, not sweating daily, constipated, shallowing breathing and not drinking much water and exposed to daily life toxins they can begin to build up in the body. This puts added stress on our bodies and forces it to work harder (using more energy, which makes us feel more fatigued) and start to exhibit a host of symptoms that are collectively called Toxic Body Burden. There is even a whole division of chemistry devoted to the study of Body Burden
Reason #2 Detoxing will help you feel better:
A good detox will have you drinking lots and lots of water. Water supports the entire system and helps it run smoothly and efficiently. It also helps in elimination of toxins via sweating, regular bowel movements and supporting all of our cells. When I owned my CrossFit gym during our nutrition challenges I would ask our members to drink 1 Gallon of water a day! We all peed like race horses all day long. Which yes, it is annoying. But we all started to feel better, less sluggish. You don’t need to drink a gallon of water a day necessarily, we recommend 1/2 of your body weight in ounces is what you need daily. I weigh 130lbs therefore, I need to drink 65 ounces a day. I just carry around one of these awesome things:
I only have to drink two of these a day and I have got my water in! Also, it keeps it ice cold all day, because who likes lukewarm water 🤢
Reason #3 Detoxing will help you feel better:
When our bodies are experiencing that Toxic Body Burden we discussed earlier it starts exhibiting symptoms. Symptoms are our bodies way of trying to communicate with us, that something is wrong internally. Most of the time lots of us don’t take the time to listen and just chalk symptoms up to aging and feeling older. Walking around with toxic overload will definitely help you feel older faster.
Headaches, brain fog, aches and pains, fatigue, allergies and a host of other symptoms can be indicators our body is working overtime to try to keep up with our overload. When we give it a chance to heal and gear down so it can catch up we start to feel better and these symptoms start to disappear.
We can do this by simply removing all packaged/boxed foods from our diets for 30 days. Eating only vegetables, fruits and some specific types of meat can begin the internal healing process. Adding extra fiber to our diet to help excrete the toxins once they are being efficiently pulled out is really important too. We get very specific in our program and give you a meal plan and specific measurements and types of foods to increase this fiber if you are looking for an easy step by step way to nail this.
Reason #4 Detoxing will help you feel better:
It sounds strange but our mental perception of life also determines our toxic load. If we are stressed all the time, negative, pessimistic, depressed our internal bodies physiologically respond to this.
We all know that cortisol is continually being dumped into our system when we stay in a state of stress. For me, that shows up with not sleeping. When I stay amped up on stress I can’t sleep, can’t poop and crave only junk food. This is a recipe for disaster. If we can step back and see the train wreck we are headed toward we can begin to see reality from a different perspective.
That stepping back sometimes looks like detox program where you are being intentional about what you put in and on your body. This act of being mindful and then spending some time in mindfulness practices help lower that stress response. Lowering cortisol, increasing the ability to sleep better. Better sleep equals a more positive perspective. Which is healing to the body.
Reason #5 Why Detoxing will help you feel better:
Not all detox plans focus on your home. We do. Our homes are our sanctuary where we escape from the world. Unfortunately, most of our homes are filled with toxic substances everywhere and the air quality is typically more polluted than the outside air. In the 30 Day Reset program we go from room to room evaluating everything substance for toxic effects and make suggestions on healthier alternatives. Just switching out our soap, shampoo, air fresheners, textiles can help eliminate unnecessary exposure. Also, taking those nasty shoes off before you spread some strangers feces on your floor 🤢. By detoxing our homes we create a friendlier environment in our homes to help support good health, thus helping us feel better.
So what is holding you back from resetting and detoxing?
I hope this gave you some solid reasons why a detox program can help you feel better and be healthier. There are lots of programs out there, google search them. See what is a good fit for you. Just make sure it is gentle, safe and sustainable. 30 days of supplements are easy and can help you poop a lot, but that isn’t a long term fix. It is a poopathon. We want sustainable long term changes that help turn your life around for your lifetime. Please ask questions and get the info you need to make the best decision you can. If you have questions please submit in the comments, I will get back to you!
